Chargers’ Stuckey Named to All-Region IV District L Team

Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball sophomore Danayzia Stuckey (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) has been named to the All-Region IV Division II District L Team for her play this season.

Entering this week’s District L tournament, Stuckey, a 5-foot-8 guard, leads the Chargers in scoring (9.4 points per game), 3-pointers (52) and 3-point shooting (35.4 percent). She’s second on the team in total field goals (85) and steals (45) and is tied for second among Chargers in assists (34).

Stuckey has played in all 26 games this season for Sandburg, hitting a 3-pointer in 24 of them. She has 14 games with at least two 3s made and 10 double-digit scoring performances.

Stuckey posted career highs of 24 points and four assists in Sandburg’s 59-57 victory over Bryant & Stratton on Jan. 26. She finished that game 9 of 18 from the floor, including 6 of 12 from beyond the arc. Stuckey tallied a career-best six steals in the Chargers’ win Dec. 3 against Eureka JV.

The Chargers begin the Region IV District L tournament tonight when they host Morton at 5:30 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
